Picking up the Perfect Foundation

Hi Sweeties~
This post really takes me a whole lot of time~ I have been writing this for a few months and i finally finish it. Thanks to the lazy me. So let's begin...
Use of Foundation:
To give your face
  • Even out skin tone
  • Brighten your face
  • Covering up your flaws (Optional)
"covering up your flaws" really do depends on your preferences and the type of foundation (powder, liquid, cream) you are using. Some people prefer to use a light-weighted foundation and cover up the flaws with the concealer while some just want the foundation to brighten up their face.

What foundation SHOULD NOT DO:
  • Clog your pores
  • breakouts
  • oxidize and give a muddy look to your face.
You really want to make sure that the above problems will not happen to you. As once you faced these problem(s), you will have a difficult time healing you skin back to usual.  I still have light brown spots on my forehead which makes me super sad.

However to prevent this, it is not easy as different people's skin are sensitive to different chemicals/brands. Therefore, before buying any foundation, I strongly encourage everyone to do more research about them, be it a drugstore brand or a high end brand. I will not touch into this too much as this really depends on the brand you are looking at and also your skin.

Different type of Foundation:
  • Tinted Moisturizer
  • Moose Foundation
  • Liquid Foundation
  • Cream Foundation
  • Powder Foundation
Tinted Moisturizer

On touch, tinted moisturizer feels like a serum. It helps to moisturize your skin and also give a very light coverage as there are some pigments to it. It goes on really smoothly and you will not feel heavy at all, just feel naked :)

Suitable for:
  • People with good skin
  • People who only need very little coverage
  • "no makeup" makeup look
  • People who do a lot of Sports
  • Students
As this give very little coverage, not everyone like it.

However, I would recommend to people who do sports but like to put some makeup. That is because people sweats while doing sports. You do not want to have ugly sweat line on your face and your pretty outfit in the end of the day. Also, I love looking pretty even when i am exercising but do not want to make it looked obvious.

I would also recommend to the students (Secondary/Polytechnic/University).
As Secondary students are not allowed to put on makeup, tinted moisturizer is like a hidden foundation which is good. As for the polytechnic and University students, we tend to spend most of the time in school, meaning, having our makeup on for really long time. To take this chance, I would like to tell Singapore students (THE LADIES!) to at least put on a little makeup! First to present yourself better (fresher looks) and second to attract the guys! (haha) I do think that Singapore student standard of beauty should level up a lot more. Peace!~

Mousse Foundation

Moose Foundation are something similar to Cream foundation but have much light feel. I personally felt that they are like a stain foundation. Some popular one will be the Shu Uemura mousse foundation. They are the one that suits hot humidity country like Singapore. It is not very heavy but have a decent coverage.

Suitable for:
  • Hot humidity Country
  • Oily Face
  • Daily foundation - long-wearing
  • Young Adults
  • Indoor Sports
  • Polytechnic/University Student
For this, I highly recommend for people who need coverage everyday. They are buildable but might feels heavy after to much layers. This is really good as it is not too heavy and it last longer. You do not want to have an oily cakey face in the end of the day.

However, applying these kind of foundation can be very difficult as it tend to dry up much faster, you will have to work fast. I personally suggest using a sponge to apply them as it tend to create foundation lines quite easily too~ They tend to be slightly more expensive too due to the new market.

Liquid Foundation

I personally love using liquid foundation for everyday foundation. Their coverage is very similar to the mousse foundation. However there is a lot of difference to it. Liquid foundation is easier to apply them and build-able. I am currently using the Chanel Vitalumier Aqua in  which i done a short review on this~ (this is written months ago so i have finish this lovely bottle already~ sob sob... trying other products now~)

Suitable for:
  • Oily face
  • Daily foundation - long-wearing
  • Young Adults
  • Polytechnic/University Student
I really love this for everyday foundation as it feels really light and it does coverage most of my flaws. However, you might still need concealer at times.

Liquid Foundation is best apply with either your hands or a foundation brush. As it's a liquid formula. I personally felt stapling brush is not a good brush to use over here.  You can find liquid foundation anywhere. However, there is a different thickness, smell and coverage for different brands. You might have to research more before you buy. I personally have tried a numbers before i found my favorite one. Some breaks me out.

Cream Foundation

Cream Foundation is like a paste to me. It is a much thicker formula. Normally comes in a container/packs. To me, it's not suitable for people staying in a hot weather country as it tend to melts away unsightly. You will need to put a layer of loose powder if

Suitable for:
  • Special events
  • All Ages
It's really good for special events as it's much long-lasting(thicker). However, I have seen a lot of people using them everyday with little amount on targeted area. Some people use this as a concealer. It really depends on yourself on how you want to use them. However, I do not recommend using them on daily basis.

Important facts about Foundation

So, to end this off, I would like to let all my lovelies to know some facts about foundation. No matter what kind of foundation they are, there are allow some disadvantage that we will need to face.

To have a good foundation, it's important that they do not oxidize. And due to this, our skin are not breathing the lovely air that they should have. In long runs, our skin will get dull. Therefore, I recommend not to put them too thick and maybe not all around the face for daily basis (just like me!). Also, it's good to allow your face to breathe at least 2 times a week. I don't put makeup during weekends if possible. And on Monday, I can definitely see big difference. Once, due to my lasik, i didn't put makeup for full 2 weeks and my face are really brightened up! If have have good skin, why spend so much on foundation? Care for them more than cover them up

If you are used to use them on daily basis, remember to clean your face properly. spend a bit more on good makeup remover and facial cleaner. Good doesn't mean expensive ya~ I recommend The Faceshop makeup remover and cleanser. They are great!

I really hope that my this post that i use really long time to write is beneficial for your lovelies~ This is all base on my past research and of course my experience! Hope it's not to lengthy!

 xoxo!

    Review: Shiseido Foundation Brush

I have this brush since last September. As i have heard a few good review on this and this is also Shiseido "first" brush that they have come out. Believing Shiseido product quality, I decided to give it a try. Also, for a quality brush, it cost only S$40! (I got mine with 20% off~)

    It claims:
"Finally, a foundation brush for use with all formulations - liquid, cream or powder. Shiseido's innovative technology combines with traditional Japanese brush-making techniques to create the perfect foundation finish. Excellent pick-up of all types of formulas for a uniform application and impeccable finish. Gently tapered strands create an angled slant that best allows bristles to reach all facial contours. Short handle allows for precise control during application and portability for travel."

    Package:
I have to say that i am in love with the handle. Though it's slightly shorter (4.5") than normal MAC brushes, more like a travel brush, the quality of the handle makes them look very elegant and expensive. I like the fact they use dark Metallic plum colour on the head of the brush with contrast of black and brown. It just make makes that bit of difference among the other black brushes and yet showing their stable colour. I personally do not like my brush to have different colour. The quality of the handle is really good! I have dropped and travel with this alot of times and i see no dent! I believe the black handle is made up of plastic. I am not very sure.

    While on action:
After using this with my creams and liquids, it becomes the brush that i will always go for. Basically, I use this almost everyday. The brush has a small surface and it's very dense. Meaning, you will have very good control. Also with the slanted cut, you can get into the corner area like the sides of the nose, cupid, etc. It blend really smoothly and flawless with putting any force and without pricking you! The hair brush is fantastic. Even my Baby Niece and Nephew love playing with them. They also love playing with my Ecotools Kabuki... I have washed it so many times and i see no shedding. I haven't use this with powder but i believe with the density of the brush, it will definitely gives you a nice coverage.

    Look how dense it is!!!

I am using a bit of force because it's really dense.

    Pro:
    • Sleek, Compact and vasertile. Good for travelling
    • Small, Dense brush. Will have very good control.
    • Very soft bristle. Product simply glides on you face.
    • Very nice slant cut which enable use to reach the cornered area on our face.
    • Pricing is reasonable!
    Cons:
    • Small surface, some might not like it. Not very good for the neck as it will takes a long time

    How do I cleanse it:
Some of you might be curious on how i cleanse my brush. Especially with such dense brush, it's a bit difficult to 100% cleanse it as there will definitely some left in the middle. (Basically, for this brush, You only use the outer to the middle of the bristle.) I used to was this with Kirei Kirei and a mixture of Olive Oil. But there will still have a bit residue left there. What i like doing is to use a small bottle cap like below, Fill a little your brush cleanser(mine is the MAC Brush Cleanser), and soaked you brush in it. You can use dipping motion just like you dipped this on you face. After about a minute, all residue can be seen.

    BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!!!
That is to wash them regularly. And i mean it. First it's not good for your clean face as everything has bacteria and also if the residue is there long term, it will be very difficult to wash them away! You do not want to waste money to buy another brush right? And not to let you face sacrifice because of your laziness right? So wash them! :))) It's rather fun to wash them and see how clean they are too! hehe~

So in total, It's a very good foundation brush for foundation! And it's very good for the beginner too! It's really easy to blend your foundation! If you have use this before, please let me know what do you think about it! I love to know~ :) Hope this review helps!
