Review: Shiseido Foundation Brush

I have this brush since last September. As i have heard a few good review on this and this is also Shiseido "first" brush that they have come out. Believing Shiseido product quality, I decided to give it a try. Also, for a quality brush, it cost only S$40! (I got mine with 20% off~)

It claims:
"Finally, a foundation brush for use with all formulations - liquid, cream or powder. Shiseido's innovative technology combines with traditional Japanese brush-making techniques to create the perfect foundation finish. Excellent pick-up of all types of formulas for a uniform application and impeccable finish. Gently tapered strands create an angled slant that best allows bristles to reach all facial contours. Short handle allows for precise control during application and portability for travel."

Package:
I have to say that i am in love with the handle. Though it's slightly shorter (4.5") than normal MAC brushes, more like a travel brush, the quality of the handle makes them look very elegant and expensive. I like the fact they use dark Metallic plum colour on the head of the brush with contrast of black and brown. It just make makes that bit of difference among the other black brushes and yet showing their stable colour. I personally do not like my brush to have different colour. The quality of the handle is really good! I have dropped and travel with this alot of times and i see no dent! I believe the black handle is made up of plastic. I am not very sure.

While on action:
After using this with my creams and liquids, it becomes the brush that i will always go for. Basically, I use this almost everyday. The brush has a small surface and it's very dense. Meaning, you will have very good control. Also with the slanted cut, you can get into the corner area like the sides of the nose, cupid, etc. It blend really smoothly and flawless with putting any force and without pricking you! The hair brush is fantastic. Even my Baby Niece and Nephew love playing with them. They also love playing with my Ecotools Kabuki... I have washed it so many times and i see no shedding. I haven't use this with powder but i believe with the density of the brush, it will definitely gives you a nice coverage.

Look how dense it is!!!

I am using a bit of force because it's really dense.

Pro:
  • Sleek, Compact and vasertile. Good for travelling
  • Small, Dense brush. Will have very good control.
  • Very soft bristle. Product simply glides on you face.
  • Very nice slant cut which enable use to reach the cornered area on our face.
  • Pricing is reasonable!
Cons:
  • Small surface, some might not like it. Not very good for the neck as it will takes a long time

How do I cleanse it:
Some of you might be curious on how i cleanse my brush. Especially with such dense brush, it's a bit difficult to 100% cleanse it as there will definitely some left in the middle. (Basically, for this brush, You only use the outer to the middle of the bristle.) I used to was this with Kirei Kirei and a mixture of Olive Oil. But there will still have a bit residue left there. What i like doing is to use a small bottle cap like below, Fill a little your brush cleanser(mine is the MAC Brush Cleanser), and soaked you brush in it. You can use dipping motion just like you dipped this on you face. After about a minute, all residue can be seen.

BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!!!
That is to wash them regularly. And i mean it. First it's not good for your clean face as everything has bacteria and also if the residue is there long term, it will be very difficult to wash them away! You do not want to waste money to buy another brush right? And not to let you face sacrifice because of your laziness right? So wash them! :))) It's rather fun to wash them and see how clean they are too! hehe~

So in total, It's a very good foundation brush for foundation! And it's very good for the beginner too! It's really easy to blend your foundation! If you have use this before, please let me know what do you think about it! I love to know~ :) Hope this review helps!

Review: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua

It Claims:
"A new-generation texture. An unprecedented sensory experience. A unique makeup result. Rapid and easy application. VITALUMIÈRE AQUA. Apply your makeup without thinking about it.

Its soft and evanescent ultra-fine fluid texture is a real surprise. Although it is exceptionally delicate and light, an incomparable “second-skin” perfecting result is achieved. The complexion appears amazingly even, fresh and energized. The skin glows with seemingly nude beauty. As if glowing from within. Bathed in light…

Its formula, endowed with a UVB sun filter and mineral sunscreen, protects the skin from damaging sun rays (SPF 15). Its crystalline fragrance accentuates the sensation of freshness and pleasure on application."

I have been using this liquid foundation for a year, almost everyday. Till now i am still in love with it!  With a lot of reason too! So let me starts stating them :)

Packaging:
I have to say i really love the packaging of this. Neither it is too fanciful nor it's bulky. I like that they use their generic black cap with a nude bottle. Making it look more simple and classy. It's about 2/3 your palm size height which it's easy for you to travel with. The bottle is made with plastic that is semi-soft for easy squeeze. You don't need to be sacred that you squeeze too much products out as the small opening and the squeezy container makes it easy to control your strength!

Product/Formulae:
This is a water-based liquid foundation, meaning, sheer-medium coverage. I love to use this for everyday foundation. You do have to shake you product though. It does not completely cover my dark eye circle but besides that, most of my flaws are covered. It's a very buildable foundation too allowing you to layer some area. If i need a full coverage, I will use this with the help of my concealer and my mineral (loose) power. It will gives off a very nice natural makeup. It does not fully turns matte which allow your skin to look dewy. However, it does take a minute or 2 to let the foundation be fully set It's liquid form allow the blending much easier and faster. I like to use my Shiseido foundation brush to apply this. The colour shade also gives a brightening effect! Personally, i felt that I looks better after a while as the colour blend into your skin, making you look like you do not have any foundation! It gives off a very natural finish. I have a very oily skin and my face will starts turn oily after about 5 hours. However, this foundation doesn't breaks off and make you face turns cakey. The foundation are still locked in place. And not to forget the addition of SPF 15! It's definitely a plus~ And i almost forgot to mention the scent it's so Chanel! So flowery.

Below is the swatch!

Look at how my hand is all brightened up!

Closeup: Just like a second skin:)

Pros:
  • Compact packaging. Good for travelling
  • Really thoughtful packaging. Easy for user to squeeze the product.
  • Light-weighted and buildable
  • Gives a natural finish; Just like your second skin.
  • Good for everyday use
  • SPF 15
  • Does not make you skin turn cakey.
  • Nice fragrance.
Cons:
  • Not for people who are looking or full coverage.
  • It's rather expensive product. ( but worth it!!! haha)
  • Does not stay for the whole day
Overall, I think it's worth buying though it cost $75 for 30ml. But trust me, you only do need like a pea size of product to cover you whole face! It have been almost a year since and i am still using my first bottle! However, it really depends on whether you like to have a sheer-medium coverage or a full coverage. Also, some people do experience breakouts due to the chemical inside.

Review: Laura Mercier Mineral Powder

Review: Laura Mercier Mineral Powder

Today, i will be reviewing one of my favourite Loose Powder that is also my current everyday used powder. Mine is in Soft Porcelain. It's a bit too light for me. This is a product that i bought when my mind is being sucked by the makeup artist. haha~

It claims:
"A finely milled powder composed completely of natural elements with 15 active amino acids to promote radiant skin, diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles."

Package:
Exterior, the product is in a very hardy and good quality container which is, for me, a bit bulky. I do hope that it will be more compact. But when you turn the cover out, that is where the beauty of the packaging appears. There are holes on half of the surface for the powder to comes off. Not only that, they have this switch cover for you to turn so to prevent too much product coming off at once or prevent it to becomes a mess while you are travelling with it! That's really my favourite~ Totally in love with it. Just look at the image below.

Product:
The Mineral Powder is very fine. So fine that when you blend them, it starts to melt into the skin. Making your skin looks really flawless and brighter. I kinda like using thison my center of my face as that is where i have a lot of fine lines/dull skin. I want to brighten that area. This means, there is actually a good amount of coverage! I like using this to set my concealer/ foundation. It's a good combination. However, you do need to make sure that you blend them really well as due to the really fine powder, It might appear patchy if not blended nicely. The addition of SPF15 is really good too! Though it's not a lot, but you are actually putting Sunblock without making your face go greasy!

Look at my Swap! Hope it's obvious!

Pros:
  • Very good packaging that is good for travelling
  • Mineral powder is very fine that makes your skin looks very smooth
  • Wide range of colour tone. (mine gives off a brightening effect)
  • Good amount of product.
Cons:
  • Packaging is slightly bulky.
  • no application given
  • Slightly Expensive
How i use:
Switching with only half of the holes expose, I like to tap the powder onto the casing just like the image below. I will do around 1-2 tap. So with my fluffy brush (from ecotools), i will give a good stir and give it a tap so to prevent excessive product. I will then start from my undereyes area and slow blending out mainly onto my center of my face and with the leftover product in the brush, I blend them out lightly up to my jawline.

Ok! I personally really love this among so many loose powder that i use! Have you use this before or do you have any loose powder you like? Please comment them! I like to know!

hehex~

Review: Candy Doll Blush in Peach Pink

Candy Doll Blush in Peach Pink

Claims:
"A soft blushes of colour that is natural and give you a perfect clarity. Long-lasting throughtout the whole day"

I has this blush for quite a while. About 6 months? It was first introduced by my sister-in-law, Chloe. Previously, i never really like japan/Korea brands cosmetic as I am not really into shimmery eye shadows. And for drugstore products, the price of them is slightly higher than the average. This cost S$25.90.

Exterior
I really like the packaging of it. It is always a plus point if your packaging is transparent~ Well at least for me:)) I like my product to be seen~ The size of the blush is also really compact! It's a perfect size for travelling. And it's not very thick too! Totally no package space, what you see is what you get. Unlucky some packaging that always makes you have the illusion that it got a lot of product inside. But that's the reason that might makes us not buy it as we are just used to the "Big Bottle" packaging~

Product/Formula
Before i bought mine, I have tried Chloe's blush once and i am in love with it! It really so gives you a very youthful flush cheek which just makes you more awake and healthy~ The pigmentation is not the best but because of that, it allows you to slowly build up the colour~ I like as i just want that bit of flush on my cheeks compared to their poster model cheeks.. hehex. And not just that, it is indeed long-lasting!

So in below picture are the swatch of it:)

After blending~ You can see a flush of colour. It's not that obvious thanks to my tanned hand.
Pros:
  •  Nice and compact packaging. Good for travelling.
  • Gets the amount of products you see. No tricky packaging.
  • Transparent packaging. Able to see what product you are taking.
  • Very powdery. Easy to pick up the colour.
  • Gives off what was shows.
  • Good pigmentation
Cons:
  • Slightly Pricy.
  • Do need to have a slightly sticky surface so that powder will stick nicely.
  • Never seen "Discount" for this!!!
  • Limited colour selection~
How do I Apply:
With my fluffy brush (from Nars), i picks up the product with the stirring motion. With a fling to pat off excess product, I starts applying them on my inner apple of my cheeks. I really like to mix this with another darker blush (or bronzer) that I apply at the outer area of my apple. It gives off a very nice flushy gradient to your face! :))
LOVE IT!!!

In total, this is one of my everyday blush. And i really mean everyday! haha~ I don't usually bring them out as if i don't rub my cheeks, it will stay there for a really long time~ I really do like using with my that Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Creamy Cheeks in 01 Baby Pink I previously reviewed. So do try them out! If you are into Japanese/Kawaii style makeup, THIS IS A MUST!

xoxo~
